A visitorship report by John Huggett
Many schools in South Africa have followed in the footsteps of their international counterparts in adopting an Apple supported educational environment. But what is the future of this? As the computing environment moves increasingly toward Cloud based solutions, is the hardware we use as important as it once was. Indeed, does it become even more important?
What are the learning platforms of the future to look like? Could we learn from the experiences of others? Could we take a shortcut based on their learning? Is it important that we catch up? Or must we go through our own process? Do the solutions they have adopted remain relevant in the South African context and environment?
This visitorship report considers these questions in light of visits to several schools in the United Kingdom.
