The South African Council for Educators (SACE) is the professional council for educators in the country. It aims to enhance the status of the teaching profession through appropriate registration.
The SACE Code of Professional Ethics is available to view on the SACE website.
In May 2025, the ISASA Legal, Policy and Government Relations Department released a memorandum on SACE registration and membership payments. This memorandum also incorporates previous information on independent school requirements in terms of SACE.
