Mandatory Display and Submission of Energy Performance Certificates
On 8 December 2020, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy published Regulations for the Mandatory Display and Submission of Energy Performance Certificates for Buildings in accordance with the National Energy Act.
The Regulations apply to owners of certain non-residential buildings classified under the National Building Regulations. For those to whom they apply, these Regulations require compliance within a period of two years from the date they were issued, namely, 7 December 2022.
The ISASA Legal and Policy Department has issued a memorandum that outlines the implications for independent schools. The memorandum is available for download below. A copy of the Energy Performance Certificate Guideline 2022 is also available for download.
