The South African Information Regulator has published a Guidance Note on Information Officers and Deputy Information Officers in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). The full Guidance Note is available for download below.
The ISASA Policy Unit has also released a memorandum that provides member schools with a summary of developments related to POPIA:
- Obligations and duties of Information Officers.
- Liabilities (offences and penalties).
- Authority of Information Officers to delegate their duties to Deputy Information Officer/s.
- Registration of Information Officers and Deputy Information Officers.
