The Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA) is intended to facilitate people to exercise their right of access to information.
Section 51 of PAIA requires the head of a private body to make a manual available to the public which contains certain prescribed information about the organisation (PAIA Manual).
The Information Regulator published new PAIA Regulations on 27 August 2021 which repeal and replace the previous regulations.
The ISASA Legal and Policy Department has compiled a memorandum that outlines the implications for independent schools. A sample PAIA Manual is also available for download.
