Guidelines to Setting the Annual Budget

The annual budget is an essential tool to determine whether a school will have sufficient funds necessary to continue to carry out day to day activities as well as plan for future maintenance, growth and development.

One of the most important jobs for a School Board is the preparation of a budget every year. The budget is prepared by the School Bursar or Business Manager, presented to the Finance Committee and subsequently to the School Board for final approval. Proper controls are required if a school is to remain financially sound. These controls are defined in and monitored by the annual budget.
