VACANCY – FET PHASE ENGLISH TEACHER
POSITION AVAILABLE FROM 1 JANUARY 2027
Southern Cross Schools is a 4 term independent, co-educational day and boarding school located in a wildlife estate in Hoedspruit, Limpopo. The beautiful natural environment in which the school is located, is used as a vehicle to teach the national curriculum. The school extends from Grade 000 to Grade 12, is a member of ISASA, and its learners sit the Grade 12 IEB examinations.
Applicants should be self-motivated individuals with a commitment to both education and environmental conservation. A clear passion for the bush, for interacting with young adults, for sport and for outdoor living is essential. Applicants must be prepared to be involved in developing an integrated thematic approach to delivering the curriculum and willing to participate in the broader life of the school. An understanding of the value of extra-mural participation for both staff and learners is vital. Applicants must be prepared to work as part of an accomplished team.

EDUCATOR QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITERIA
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (BeD) or Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with English as a major.
- SACE registered with a valid SACE certificate
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching English for Grades 8 and 12 is essential.
- The ability to teach Tourism and History would be an advantage.
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading and writing in the language of instruction (English)
- Ability and willingness to coach various sports
- Valid driver’s license essential. PDP an advantage
- Police and Sexual Offences Clearance Certificate essential
- IEB experience will be an added advantage
