CBC Mount Edmund College & Preparatory School is an ISASA registered,
co-educational Catholic school situated on a lovely 20 Ha estate in Silverton, Pretoria.
CBC Mount Edmund Preparatory School invites applications from suitably qualified, passionate, and innovative educators for the position of English Home Language Educator for Grades 6 and 7, commencing in January 2027.
We are seeking an educator who is committed to academic excellence, develops confident and critical thinkers, and embraces innovative, 21st-century teaching and learning practices.
Minimum Requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Valid SACE registration.
- Proven experience teaching English Home Language at Intermediate or Senior Phase level.
- Strong knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and IEB assessment requirements.
- Competence in teaching literature, language structures and conventions, reading, writing, comprehension, and oral communication.
- Effective integration of technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learner engagement and achievement.
- Strong classroom management, assessment, moderation and learner support skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, high-quality English Home Language lessons that promote critical thinking, creativity and effective communication.
- Plan, implement and assess curriculum-aligned teaching and learning programmes.
- Design credible assessments and use learner performance data to inform teaching and improve academic outcomes.
- Foster a love of reading, literature, writing and language.
- Support learners with diverse academic needs and abilities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum delivery and maintain consistent academic standards.
- Contribute to the school’s cultural, co-curricular and pastoral programmes.
- Uphold the values, ethos and professional standards of CBC Mount Edmund Preparatory School.
