About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and motivated Teacher Intern to join our neurodiverse school. This internship provides an opportunity for a newly qualified or aspiring teacher to gain practical classroom experience while working under the guidance and mentorship of experienced educators.
The successful candidate will support the learning and development of Grade 4-7 learners with diverse learning profiles while developing their own teaching skills in an inclusive educational environment.
Qualifications
Essential:
- BEd in Intermediate Phase
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging Grade 4-7 lessons.
- Support learners individually and in small groups.
- Prepare teaching resources and classroom materials.
- Help create a structured, safe and inclusive classroom.
- Implement differentiated teaching strategies under supervision.
- Support classroom routines and positive behaviour strategies.
- Assist with assessments, record keeping and administration.
- Participate in Individual Support Plan meetings under supervision.
- Collaborate with teachers, social workers and support staff.
- Attend staff meetings, training and school events.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and apply feedback.
Skills and Competencies
- Passion for working with young children and neurodiverse learners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Interest in inclusive education.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Adaptability and initiative.
Requirements
- BEd: Intermediate Phase.
- Registration with SACE or eligibility to register.
- Valid police clearance certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Clear National Register for Sex Offenders check.
- Clear Child Protection Register check
