De La Salle Holy Cross College is a South African Catholic school which embraces diversity and inclusion, and provides a unique educational experience. Our College is in Victory Park, Johannesburg, and consists of a co-educational Junior School, Junior High and High School. We are an independent, non-profit institution serving the educational needs of the immediate and wider community of Johannesburg.
We require the services of a dynamic candidate to join our High School Faculty with effect from 1 January 2027.
TEACHER: High School Mathematics Support Specialist
The ideal person for this position should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Education or a related field;
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching Mathematics and understand the development of Mathematics and English skills. The ability to teach Mathematics up to Gr 12 level will be an advantage;
- Experience in Academic Support and/or remedial education will be an advantage;
- A willingness to embrace the ethos, values and mission of the College;
- Have a creative and innovate mindset, always seeking new strategies to support learning and growth;
- Be SACE registered, have a police clearance, sexual offenders register clearance and child protection register check;
- Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents and pupils;
- Be available to provide co-curricular mathematical support to differentiated smaller groups of pupils;
- Designing and evaluating assessments to identify learning challenges and individual needs;
- Provide one-on-one and group support lessons in Mathematics to pupils, employing evidence-based interventions;
- Collaborating closely with the support team, Mathematics teachers, parents and other professionals and specialists to create cohesive support strategies and learning methodologies; and
- Administering, monitoring and tracking pupils’ progress and adjusting interventions as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
