Senior Primary Afrikaans Educator (Grades 5 and 6) – 2027

Southcity Preparatory School seeks to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, and suitably qualified Senior Primary Afrikaans Educator (Grades 5 and 6) who is passionate about teaching and committed to academic excellence within an independent school environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • All applicants should demonstrate the ability to identify with, support, and uphold the vision and mission of Southcity Preparatory School;
  • Be an energetic, self-motivated educator, able to function well within a team, while also working independently and using initiative effectively;
  • Excellent subject knowledge in Afrikaans First Additional Language, with the ability to teach Life Skills at Senior Primary level being advantageous;
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Afrikaans in the Intermediate and/or Senior Phase within an independent or IEB school environment;
  • A suitable degree and/or 4-year professional teaching qualification;
  • Current SACE registration;
  • Valid Police Clearance Certificate and clearance against the relevant Child Protection registers;
  • The ability to accommodate mixed-ability classes, extending high-achieving pupils while providing appropriate support and intervention where necessary.

  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills;
  • Enthusiastic, adaptable, professional, and solution-driven;
  • High levels of professionalism, reliability, and accountability;
  • Sound administrative skills and attention to detail;
  • Computer literacy is essential;
  • Willingness to participate fully in the academic, sporting, pastoral, and co-curricular life of the school, including duties, sport supervision, and school events as required.
