Ubombo Primary School is an English medium, independent, co-educational ISASA-accredited school with a proud tradition of providing high-quality education within a caring environment. The school invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates for appointment to the position of Senior Phase (Grade 4-7) English Language Teacher.
START DATE: Term 1, 2027 (or no later than 1 May 2027 by mutual agreement)
THE JOB:
Reporting to the Principal, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and leading the school’s English Language curriculum within the Senior Phase (Grade 4-7). The incumbent will organize, teach, and equip pupils with strong language, literacy, and communication skills, while developing a progressive approach toward curriculum development.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge and proficiency in teaching English Language and Literature at the Senior Phase (Grade 4-7) level.
- Prepare thorough lesson plans, effective schemes of work, and curriculum materials aligned with the school’s curriculum and educational standards. (Experience with CAPS or IEB is advantageous.)
- Present engaging, well-structured, and progressive lessons using creative teaching methodologies.
- Assess, evaluate, and monitor pupil progress regularly using both formal and informal methods.
- Maintain efficient and effective record-keeping and general administration.
- Establish clear classroom standards, timelines, and expectations for individual and group work.
- Integrate technology and computer applications effectively into language teaching and learning.
- Contribute meaningfully to the cultural and extra-mural co-curricular activities of the school.
THE APPLICANT:
- A minimum of a three-year teaching Diploma or Bachelor’s degree (B.Ed preferred) from a recognized tertiary institution, specializing in English Language and Senior Phase education.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant English Language teaching experience in the Senior Phase (Grade 4-7).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of efficient administrative, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Proficiency in using classroom technology and software applications.
- Willingness to embrace modern teaching methods and engage in continuous professional development.
- Ability to foster and maintain strong, positive working relationships with colleagues, parents, and pupils.
- Identification with and support for the core values and ethos of Ubombo Primary School.
