PLAYSCHOOL ASSISTANT
(Fixed Term Contract)

SAHETI School is an independent, co-educational, English-medium school dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, whilst promoting the values and ethos of Hellenism. The school is situated in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and caring assistant to join our Playschool team, specialising in the care of children aged 14 to 36 months. You would be responsible for providing outstanding care and assistance for our children and be responsible for following our safeguarding procedures.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications:
- Matric certificate as well as an applicable qualification in childcare or qualification in ECD;
- Clear criminal record.
Qualities:
- A love for children that drives your work ethic;
- Commitment to excellence and team player;
- Have a good command of the English Language (spoken and written);
- Must have a warm and nurturing personality.
Duties include:
- Ensuring that children are safe, happy and looked after both physically and emotionally;
- Incident report and documentation written up daily should an incident occur;
- First aid to be administered should an injury occur;
- Implementing the daily programme of activities in conjunction with the Teacher/Playschool Vice-Principal;
- Engagement with the children on their age level;
- Monitoring and supervising the children in the classroom and on the playground;
- Being responsible for the children’s belongings at all times and ensuring bags are packed correctly at the end of the day;
- Assisting children with all toileting needs, serving of snacks/lunch;
- Cleaning and sanitising of toys regularly;
- Maintaining the tidiness and cleanliness of the storeroom and its contents.
