PIANO TEACHER
St Cyprian’s School is looking for an experienced and inspiring Piano Teacher to join our dynamic Music Department on an independent contract basis from October 2027.
We are looking for someone who brings together musical excellence, thoughtful pedagogy and genuine delight in working with young people — a teacher who understands that developing a musician is about far more than preparing the next piece or examination.
The successful candidate will teach piano students across the Preparatory and High School, helping each student grow in confidence, musicianship, technical ability and enjoyment of music.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching individual piano lessons to Preparatory and High School students
- Preparing students for internal and external music examinations
- Preparing and supporting students for concerts, Eisteddfods and competitions
- Encouraging strong musicianship, disciplined practice and a genuine love of music
- Working collaboratively with colleagues within the Music Department
- Contributing positively to a warm, encouraging and high-performing musical environment
Minimum Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in music
- Have a proven track record of excellent piano teaching
- Are passionate about piano pedagogy and understand that students learn in different ways
- Know how to balance high standards with encouragement, curiosity and joy
- Build positive relationships with students and help them develop confidence as musicians
- Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team and willingly support colleagues
- Are organised, reliable and professional in your communication and commitments
- Hold SACE registration, or meet the requirements for registration — this would be an advantage
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who can help young musicians experience both the discipline and the magic of making music.
If you believe excellent teaching should stretch students without squeezing the joy out of them, we would be delighted to hear from you.
St Cyprian’s School is on a journey of Transformation, and the successful incumbent will be expected to contribute positively to the outcome of this journey
Qualified, interested candidates are requested to apply via this link by Monday, 30 August 2026. Failure to meet the minimum requirements will result in disqualification. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for further discussions
