Principal Duties:

  • Delivery of Natural Sciences instruction to Senior Phase learners (Grades 7–9) in accordance with the CAPS curriculum, encompassing Life and Living, Matter and Materials, Energy and Change, and Planet Earth and Beyond.
  • Preparation and execution of CAPS-compliant schemes of work, with due regard to School-Based Assessment (SBA) requirements and formal assessment tasks.
  • Continuous evaluation of learner performance, provision of targeted feedback and meticulous record-keeping in accordance with school protocols.
  • Support of the department head with resource development, moderation and curriculum implementation.
  • Active involvement in remedial support, enrichment activities, science clubs, assemblies, staff briefings and the extramural programme.
  • Adherence to all school policies pertaining to learner discipline, pastoral care and child protection.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Appropriate teaching qualification (BEd or bachelor’s degree with PGCE), with Natural Sciences as a major or substantial component.
  • Valid SACE registration — proof of registration must accompany all applications; unregistered applications will not be considered.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ classroom experience in a CAPS environment, preferably in the Senior Phase (Grades 7–9).
  • Proficiency in digital tools such as SA-SAMS, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for planning, assessment and communication.
  • Alignment with the school’s Christian ethos and stringent safeguarding measures.

The ability to teach Mathematics and/or Physical Sciences (FET Phase) as a second subject would be a distinct advantage.
