MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
Start date: Immediate / By Agreement
St Andrew’s College and Preparatory:
St Andrew’s College and Preparatory invite applications from an accomplished, strategically minded and highly creative marketing and communications professional to lead the continued growth, visibility and reputation of the school.
This is an opportunity for an exceptional marketing and communications leader to assume responsibility for a high-profile institutional brand with a proud heritage, an established national and international presence, and an ambitious vision for the future.
Working collaboratively across the Family of Schools, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across marketing, communications, brand, digital, public relations, campaigns and stakeholder engagement. The role will be instrumental in strengthening the schools’ position within an increasingly competitive independent school landscape and contributing to their long-term sustainability, relevance and growth.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
This is considerably more than a communications role.
The successful candidate will be a senior marketing leader who understands that an institution’s reputation is shaped by every story it tells, every relationship it builds and every experience it creates.
As strategic custodian of the school’s brand, the incumbent will ensure that its identity remains distinctive, compelling and consistently expressed across every physical, digital and stakeholder touchpoint. The role will translate institutional priorities into sophisticated marketing strategies, campaigns, communications and experiences that resonate with current and prospective families, pupils, Old Andreans, staff, partners and the wider community.
The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with decisive, hands-on leadership — setting a clear direction while ensuring that ideas are translated into exceptional execution.
A deep understanding of audiences, an ability to interrogate data and market intelligence, an instinct for emerging trends and opportunities, and a disciplined approach to measuring impact will be essential. The successful candidate will bring creativity and commercial acumen without ever losing sight of the educational purpose, values and distinctive character of the institution.
THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Executive Headmaster, the Marketing & Communications Manager will lead the Marketing and Communications function and work closely with Senior Management, Admissions, Advancement, Old Andreans, DSG, Prep and College leadership, together with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
The portfolio will encompass:
- Developing and implementing an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with institutional priorities and long-term sustainability.
- Protecting, strengthening and evolving the distinctive St Andrew’s brand and institutional reputation.
- Shaping compelling narratives and building a strong, credible media and public relations profile.
- Leading the school’s digital presence across websites, social media, email, digital campaigns and contemporary content platforms.
- Developing a sophisticated understanding of competitors, demographics, audience behaviour and emerging opportunities, and translating insight into strategic action.
- Conceiving, leading and evaluating integrated campaigns across traditional, digital and experiential channels.
- Working strategically with Admissions to strengthen the prospective-family journey and support student recruitment objectives.
- Providing strategic oversight of major promotional, recruitment and stakeholder events, ensuring that each reflects the quality, character and values of the schools.
- Building and sustaining influential relationships across the education, media, community and professional landscape.
- Harnessing data, analytics and CRM insights to strengthen targeting, engagement, conversion and return on investment.
- Leading and developing a high-performing marketing and communications team.
- Managing budgets, agencies, creative partners and suppliers with sound commercial judgement and accountability.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The appointment calls for an experienced marketing and communications professional with the strategic maturity,
executive presence, creative intelligence and professional credibility to operate confidently at senior institutional level.
The successful candidate will ideally possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Strategic Communication, Corporate Communication, Brand Management,
- public Relations, Media and Communications, Business Management, Business Development, Marketing Communications or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
- At least seven years’ relevant professional experience, including a minimum of three years in a senior marketing, communications, brand, PR or related management capacity.
