MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT
FULL TIME, PERMANENT POSITION
Thomas More College is seeking to appoint a dedicated, reliable, and skilled individual to fulfil the role of Maintenance Assistant. The successful candidate will support the upkeep and functionality of the school’s buildings, facilities, and grounds, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for staff and pupils.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General building and maintenance repairs.
- Painting and finishing work.
- Carpentry and minor construction.
- Paving and basic landscaping repairs.
- Waterproofing and structural upkeep.
- Electrical and plumbing maintenance (within scope of competency).
- Welding and metalwork repairs.
- Routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organised manner.
- Provide support for ad hoc duties and tasks as required by the Estate Manager.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Adherence to the values, vision, and Christian Ethos of the School.
- Proven maintenance or technical experience in a similar role.
- Practical knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Previous experience working within a school or similar environment (advantageous).
- Solid understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Maintains a positive, professional relationship with all stakeholders.
- Adhere to the School code of conduct.
