JUNIOR SCHOOL ATHLETICS COACH
Kingsmead College is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced Athletics Coach to join our Junior School sports programme.
The successful applicant must be suitably qualified and meet the following criteria to apply for this role:
- Coach sprinting to students in Grades 3–7, with a strong focus on developing correct sprinting technique, speed, coordination and overall athletic development.
- Competent and confident in coaching long jump.
- Develop students’ relay and baton skills, including baton exchanges, teamwork and race technique.
- Plan and deliver engaging, structured and age-appropriate athletics training sessions.
- Identify and develop students’ individual athletic abilities while encouraging participation, confidence and enjoyment of athletics.
- Be available during the school athletics season for scheduled practices and athletics meetings.
- Assist with the preparation of athletes for inter-school athletics meetings and other athletics events.
- Work collaboratively with the HOD: Athletics, other athletics coaches and the Kingsmead sports staff team to support and develop the athletics programme.
- Assist with team organisation, registers and other athletics-related administration where required.
- Relevant athletics coaching qualifications or certifications would be advantageous.
- Previous experience coaching school-age athletes.
- Be passionate about athletics, girls’ sport and the development of young athletes.
- Engage with Kingsmead’s values, ethos and philosophy in sport.
- Confident and competent in communication, organisation and working as part of a team.
