St Dunstan’s College is an independent English-medium school in Rynfield, Benoni, founded in 1918. From its humble beginnings as an Anglican Parish Preparatory School, St Dunstan’s has grown into a leading independent institution that includes the original Preparatory School, a Pre-School and a College.

INTERN – PREPARATORY SCHOOL FOUNDATION PHASE
Commencement date – January 2027
The successful candidate must:
- be studying towards a teaching degree or be a recent graduate (2025 or 2026) in any field who would like to take a gap year to explore a career in high school education.
- be willing to complete academic studies via correspondence.
- be committed, dynamic, innovative and motivated.
- possess developed IT skills, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- be willing to participate fully in the life of the school and in extracurricular activities.
- align with the school motto of “I Serve” and uphold the Christian ethos of the school.
Key points about the role:
Temporary role: Internships normally run for a year or until completion of a teaching degree – reviewed annually. Consideration will be given to recent graduates for a shorter period.
Learning-focused: The main purpose is training and exposure rather than long-term employment.
Supervised: Interns work under guidance from staff members who help them learn about teaching, managing sport and cultural activities, events and other school activities.
Values-driven: Must support the ethos and values of St Dunstan’s College.
The school provides a stipend and covers some costs for students studying towards a career in education. Interns are expected to be present at St Dunstan’s College during the school day and add value to the extramural programme.
