Position Overview
St Dunstan’s College is seeking an innovative, self-motivated, and forward-thinking educator to pioneer a newly created role within our state-of-the-art STEM Centre. As the Innovation Hub Coordinator & CAT Educator, the person will manage and drive the strategic growth of our Innovation Hub – a dynamic environment designed to foster critical thinking, design-led problem solving, digital literacy and artificial intelligence integration.
Key Responsibilities & Core Duties
- Classroom Teaching & Curriculum Delivery
- Digital Literacy (Grades 8 & 9): Teach Digital Literacy within the mainstream curriculum, preparing junior students with essential research skills, basic coding concepts and effective AI tool usage.
- Computer Applications Technology (CAT) Self-Paced Programme (Grades 10–12):
- Design high-quality online instructional video content to cover the Grade 10, 11 and 12 CAT curriculum
- Facilitate and support multi-grade CAT students simultaneously during afternoon sessions as they complete the curriculum at an individualised pace.
- Innovation Hub Management & Student Facilitation
- Afternoon Hub Coordination: Oversee the daily operations of the Innovation Hub, maintaining a safe, vibrant and collaborative environment.
- Design & Digital Fabrication: Guide and mentor Grade 8–12 students in design software, 3D printing and laser cutting technology to bring student-led projects from concept to prototype.
- Coding, Robotics & AI Exploration: Encourage and support extracurricular projects in coding, microcontrollers/robotics and practical applications of emerging technology.
- Media & Green Room Management: Supervise student use of the venue’s dedicated Green Room for video recording, podcasting and digital media/visual editing projects.
- Professional Growth & Role Adaptation
- Continuously explore emerging technology trends to proactively evolve the Innovation Hub’s offerings.
- Act as an advocate and catalyst for technology integration across the wider St Dunstan’s College community.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- A relevant teacher qualification with SACE registration is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Computer Applications Technology (CAT) curriculum.
- Practical familiarity with 3D printers, laser cutters and coding for robotics.
- Understanding of video recording and digital editing software/hardware.
- High level of adaptability, initiative, and creative problem-solving skills.
