JOB DESCRIPTION

HR Officer

Start Date: 01 January 2027

The HR Officer (IR & SDF) is responsible for supporting the day-to-day human resources function with a specialized focus on labour relations compliance and workplace learning. This role coordinates internal disciplinary and grievance processes, assists with CCMA matters, and serves as the appointed Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) responsible for SETA submissions, training execution.

SUCCESSFULL APPLICANT WILL

  • Initiate, coordinate, and administer internal disciplinary hearings, performance management plans, and grievance procedures. Act as initiator, minute-taker, or advisor as required.
  • Draft conciliation and arbitration documentation, compile evidence bundles, and represent or support company representation at the CCMA
  • Provide line managers with expert guidance on labour law, policy interpretation, corrective action, and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor compliance of company policies, SOPs, and employment contracts with the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Conduct annual Training Needs Analyses (TNA), compile, and submit the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) to the relevant SETA by annual statutory deadlines.
  • Manage learnership programs, bursaries, and candidate tracking for equity and skills development mandates.

THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES AND ABILITIES ARE ESSENTIAL

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Labour Relations, or related field.
  • Certified Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) registered with a relevant SETA.
  • Experience in an HR Officer or HR Generalist role with heavy exposure to Industrial Relations and SDF duties.
  • Practical experience handling internal disciplinary administration and familiarity with CCMA
  • Direct involvement in compiling and submitting WSP/ATR reports to SETAs.
