HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER OF AFRIKAANS (First Additional Language)

St George’s Grammar School is a vibrant, co-educational, inclusive and innovative independent school, preparing pupils for a successful future. We seek to appoint an energetic, dynamic teacher to fill this position, commencing on 01 January 2026.This is a full-time permanent position and requires some leadership and co-ordination in our small Afrikaans Department.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have suitable qualifications (BEd or Bachelors Degree and PGCE or equivalent).
  • Hold a current SACE registration certificate.
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience of teaching Afrikaans (First Additional Language) at both GET and FET Levels. Experience of leading a Department would be an advantage, as would any other management experience.
  • Be fully conversant with CAPS curriculum.
  • Be open to working in a diverse, inclusive environment.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of some of the latest innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Have excellent organisational skills and a creative passion for language teaching.
  • Be willing to participate in our extra-curricular programme.
