Head for Vuleka St Mark’s Primary School (Northriding)

Reporting to: Executive Head


  • Minimum requirement is a recognised teaching Degree.


  • 10 years teaching experience of which 4 – 5 years must be at senior management/ deputy head level.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a successful track record in the role of senior leadership within a school of standing and excellence together with appropriate academic and business qualifications;
  • Be fully conversant with current trends and developments within educational fields;
  • Have a passion for education and a vision for the future of the school and the ability to share this with the community;
  • Have the ability to challenge and inspire learners and teachers to live out their values;
  • Be an innovative, visionary leader;
  • Promotes a good image of the school, particularly school values.
  • Be able to attract and retain educators of exceptional quality;
  • Encourage and support staff development;
  • Be flexible and able to work outside of office hours if needed;
  • Substantive understanding of current pressures relating to family and socio-economic aspects and how these may impact pupils and staff members.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with colleagues, pupils and parents;
  • Financial acumen;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Assertiveness and dynamism;
  • Knowledge in Education programme i.e. Edupac;
  • Computer literate
  • SACE registration;
  • Fluent in English; and another South African language
