HEAD OF FOUNDATION PHASE

An opportunity exists for an exceptional Head of Foundation Phase to join Highbury Preparatory School – someone who possesses inspirational leadership qualities and who will be an integral part of the School’s Senior Management Team. This position offers a house on the school property.
Requirements:
- BEd (Foundation Phase) or Bachelor’s degree plus PGCE or equivalent. A post graduate qualification in leadership would be an advantage
- SACE registered
- Be a committed Christian
- At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role in the Foundation Phase
- Proven facilitation, problem-solving and report-writing skills
- A thorough understanding of the CAPS curriculum
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Excellent communication, organisation and planning skills
- Clear criminal record
Key Performance Areas:
- Lead the strategic direction, daily operation and continued growth of the Foundation Phase
- Champion excellence in teaching, learning and child development through contemporary best practice
- Foster a culture of belonging, wellbeing, creativity and educational excellence for children and staff
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team of educators
- Build strong relationships with parents and families
- Oversee curriculum development, assessment and school readiness programmes
- Ensure the highest standard of safeguarding, child protection, health and safety
- Report to and support the Headmaster
- Serve as a member of the school executive
- Be able to lead weekly chapel services
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and professional growth.
- Oversee the budget for the Foundation Phase
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Development (ECD) is a requirement
