The Role

You will lead with both compassion and clarity, ensuring that every boarder feels known, supported, and challenged to become her best self..

Key Focus Areas
Safeguarding & Wellbeing
You will champion a culture of safeguarding excellence, where the safety and dignity of every girl is paramount.

This includes:

  • Leading safeguarding practices within boarding with vigilance and integrity;
  • Ensuring robust systems, staff training, and clear protocols are consistently applied;
  • Building a trusted environment where girls feel heard, respected, and protected;

Student Leadership & Management
You will bring strong, confident student management skills, including:

  • Establishing clear expectations for behavior, accountability, and mutual respect;
  • Supporting girls through the complexities of adolescent life with empathy and firmness;
  • Leading discipline in a fair, consistent, and restorative manner;
  • Fostering a strong sense of belonging, community, and personal responsibility;

Leadership of Boarding
As Head of Boarding, you will:

  • Shape and deliver a compelling vision for boarding aligned with the school’s ethos;
  • Lead and develop a dedicated team of boarding staff;
  • Create a dynamic, engaging boarding programme that supports holistic development;
  • Ensure the smooth and effective day-to-day running of a high-performing residential environment;

Partnership with Families

You will build strong, trusted relationships with parents, acting as a key partner in supporting each girl’s journey and wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a leader who brings:

  • Significant experience in boarding, pastoral care, or residential student life;
  • A deep and demonstrable commitment to safeguarding and child protection;
  • Outstanding interpersonal and student management skills;
  • The ability to balance warmth and empathy with firmness and professionalism;
  • Proven experience in leading and developing teams;
  • High emotional intelligence, resilience, and sound judgement;

Above all, you will have a genuine passion for working with young women and a commitment to nurturing confident, compassionate, and principled individuals.
