Curro is seeking to appoint a head of academics who is passionate about learner-centred learning and committed to academic excellence at Curro Rivonia in Rivonia. The head of academics is responsible for managing academic and teaching standards across the school through the effective application of Curro policies and procedures as adapted and customised to the needs of the school. The head of academics is also responsible for the active teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development and growth of positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches and mentoring teachers. In addition, the role involves teaching and coordinating specific subjects as per the Curro/CAPS/SAGS (IEB) curricula. .

Key performance areas

Coaching

  • Knowledge of different swimming methodologies, and techniques.
  • Program development and growth.
  • Coaching of Pre-primary, Primary and High School swimming squads.
  • Coaching of club squads.
  • Ability to write various training programs to accommodate swimmers’ abilities and growth.

Managing

  • Ability to manage and lead the team of coaches.
  • Program quality control.
  • Aquatics facilities.
  • Annual report of Aquatics program.

Continuous Learning

  • Stay updated with the latest swimming trends and techniques.

Qualifications, experience and skills

  • Grade 12 (NQF 4).
  • 3 Years experience as swimming coach.
  • Experience as Head coach of a program.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Level 1 First Aid.
  • CPR certificate.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • SSA Level 1 certificate.
  • SSA LTS certificate.

Advantageous

  • Degree in any related field.
  • Proven track record of producing Junior National swimmers or higher.
  • Experience and knowledge with Team Manager and Meet Manager.
