Clifton Nottingham Road invites applications for a Grade 5 Class Teacher.
Clifton Preparatory School is an independent, co-educational school offering classes from Grade 000 to Grade 7, with the option of weekly and termly boarding. Founded in 1942, the school is set on a picturesque 64-hectare estate in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
Clifton Nottingham Road seeks an enthusiastic, caring teacher to lead a Grade 5 class in the Senior Primary. The ideal candidate will nurture curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning through engaging, child-centred lessons aligned with our Champions of Childhood vision and will play an active role in the school’s sporting programme. Accommodation may be available for the right candidate; this would involve a commitment to the boarding programme.
Responsibilities
- Teach the Grade 5 curriculum through lessons that are interactive, creative, and developmentally appropriate.
- Provide strong pastoral care as class teacher, fostering a positive, inclusive classroom where every child feels known and safe.
- Assess and report thoughtfully, providing clear feedback to children and parents.
- Coach sport as part of the school’s co-curricular programme.
- Work collaboratively within the Senior Primary team and contribute to the wider life of the school.
Requirements
- Relevant teaching qualification, preferably with an Intermediate Phase focus.
- SACE registration and eligibility to work in South Africa.
- Experience teaching at the Intermediate Phase level.
- Ability and willingness to coach sport is essential; experience coaching cricket would be an advantage.
- Confident use of ICT and varied teaching strategies.
- Warm, reflective, and committed to ongoing professional growth.
