English Home Language Teacher (Intermediate Phase) (Full-Time)

Key Performance Areas
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Teaching English Home Language in the Intermediate Phase in accordance with the CAPS curriculum.
- Planning, preparing and presenting engaging lessons that promote language development, critical thinking and a love for reading.
- Creating a positive, well-managed classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Planning, administering and moderating formal and informal assessments.
- Monitoring learner progress and implementing appropriate intervention strategies where required.
- Maintaining accurate learner records, reports and assessment documentation.
- Promoting high standards of literacy, communication and academic achievement.
- Integrating technology and modern teaching practices to enhance learning where appropriate.
- Building positive relationships with learners, parents and colleagues through effective communication.
- Participating in school events, assemblies, extracurricular activities and school programmes.
- Supporting the school’s vision, values and commitment to holistic learner development.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- An appropriate BEd Degree and/or PGCE with a specialisation in Intermediate Phase education.
- A recognised qualification to teach English Home Language.
- Current SACE registration.
- Previous experience teaching English Home Language in the Intermediate Phase will be advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of the CAPS curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- A passion for literacy development and learner success.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational technology.
- A clear criminal record.
