ENGLISH AND LIFE ORIENTATION TEACHER (HIGH SCHOOL)

SAHETI School is an independent, co-educational, English-medium school dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, while promoting the ethos and values of Hellenism. The school is situated in Senderwood, Bedfordview.

SAHETI School invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of English & Life Orientation. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the English and Life Orientation curricula in accordance with IEB requirements while fostering academic excellence, learner wellbeing, and the holistic development of learners.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant teaching qualification B.Ed. or PGCE.
  • Current and valid SACE and a clear criminal record.
  • Minimum 2–5 years’ experience teaching English and Life Orientation at high school level.
  • Sound knowledge of the IEB English and Life Orientation curricula and assessment practices.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including literature, language and writing instruction.
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentor and support learners effectively.
  • Sound knowledge of learner wellbeing, career guidance and personal development programmes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational technology platforms.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging English and Life Orientation lessons aligned with IEB standards and best practices.
  • Teach English Language and Literature, promoting critical reading, effective writing, communication, and analytical thinking.
  • Develop learners’ knowledge and skills relating to personal wellbeing, career development, physical education, citizenship and social responsibility.
  • Foster critical thinking, creativity, self-awareness and responsible decision-making among learners.
  • Integrate contemporary issues, literature and life skills into the curriculum to promote holistic learner development.
