DIRECTOR OF MUSIC GRADE 1 – 12
We are seeking an enthusiastic, accomplished and visionary music educator to lead and develop a vibrant, inclusive music programme across the whole school, from Grade 1 to Grade 12. The successful candidate will combine strong musical expertise with excellent organisational and leadership skills and a genuine passion for nurturing musical confidence and talent in young people.
The Director of Music will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership and direction for Music across Grades 1–12.
- Teaching class Music from Grades 4–9. Developing a progressive and engaging whole-school music programme.
- Directing either the Primary School or High School choir and overseeing the development of all school choirs.
- Leading and developing the school’s marimba programme.
- Directing and growing the school band and other instrumental ensembles.
- Overseeing all music activities, performances, staff and service providers across the school.
- Knowledge of live sound production, including the setup and operation of PA systems, mixing consoles, microphones, and
associated audio equipment is desirable, but not essential - Coordinating music for assemblies, Masses, liturgical celebrations, concerts, productions and other school events.
- Supporting and guiding music teachers, instrumental tutors and ensemble directors.
- Managing performance schedules, rehearsals, auditions, competitions and external music examinations.
- Overseeing the care, maintenance and effective use of musical instruments and resources.
- Overseeing the awards for Music in the SP and HS phases
The successful candidate should have
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Music and/or Music Education.
- Relevant teaching experience, preferably across more than one school phase.
- Strong practical musicianship and the ability to inspire pupils with differing levels of musical experience and ability.
- A collaborative, energetic and creative approach.
- A commitment to the values and Christian ethos of Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School.
- SACE registration and the necessary police clearance and safeguarding documentation.
