Consumer Studies Classroom Assistant

Brescia House School is an Independent Catholic day school for girls situated in the heart of Bryanston. Members of staff are expected to uphold and promote the Ursuline ethos. Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the above post to commence in January 2027.

The Consumer Studies Classroom Assistant supports the Consumer Studies Department by assisting with practical lessons, preparing resources and equipment, maintaining classrooms and practical venues, ensuring health and safety compliance, and providing administrative support to the Consumer Studies department.

Minimum requirements for this role include:

  • National Senior Certificate (Matric) and/or a relevant qualification or Matric level in Consumer Studies, Hospitality Studies, Food Production, Education, or a related field.
  • Both a Food Safety and Hygiene and First Aid Certification will be advantageous.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook).

Preferable experience required includes:

  • Previous employment in a school environment, hospitality environment, kitchen, clothing and textile environment, or
    educational support role.
  • Working with adolescents and school-aged learners.
  • Administrative tasks, record keeping, inventory management and stock control.
  • Basic food preparation and kitchen management skills.
  • Knowledge of consumer and household management concepts.

The successful applicant must be committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and will be required to
undergo the necessary background and reference checks.

This is a full-time school-based position with the availability to assist during occasional after-school events, practical examinations, and departmental functions. The ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting of supplies and equipment will be needed for this position.
