Following numerous reported incidents of food poisoning across the country, the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has issued a media statement on the suspension of food sales on school premises.
In line with the GDE Media Statement, ISASA urges member schools to monitor food vendors, tuckshops and other outlets that sell food to learners on school premises and to ensure compliance with the Regulations Governing General Hygiene Requirements for Food Premises, The Transport of Food and Related Matters.
ISASA has issued two memoranda regarding this matter, and these are available for download. A pack of supporting documents is also available.
