Paul Edey

In 2020 Paul Edey was appointed to a new position in the ISASA office as the SAHISA Stakeholder Manager. The main purpose of the job is to act as a support for school leaders in ISASA member schools and as a link between the ISASA office and the SAHISA executive.

Paul has over 40 years’ experience in education at secondary and tertiary level. He has led three different schools over the past 25 years as Headmaster of St David’s Marist, Inanda (1995-2006), his old school, St Andrew’s College, Grahamstown, (2009-2014) and then as the 15th Headmaster of St John’s College, Johannesburg (2015-2019).

Paul was Director of Executive Education at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) from 2006-2008. At GIBS, Paul led three Global Executive Education programmes, and his experience at GIBS exposed him to adult education, issues of leadership, the political economy and strategy.

Paul has served on the boards of many different schools, including The Ridge Preparatory, The International School of South Africa, Dainfern College, The Good Shepherd School, The Hope School and Holy Cross School.

He has a particular interest in school leadership and governance, and the education of boys.

Paul is a past chairman of JOCASCO and SAHISA.
