Information
The debate over which map projection the United Nations should use highlights the importance of maps. The United States has opposed moves at the UN to promote an Equal Area projection as an alternative to the familiar Mercator projection. But what is an Equal Area projection? How does it differ from the Mercator projection? And, most importantly, how do we explain these differences to our Geography learners?
The Map Skills and Techniques Course, designed and delivered by experienced Geography educators and GIS specialists, equips teachers with the practical skills and confidence to teach mapwork effectively.
