TEACHING VACANCY: HIGH SCHOOL MATHEMATICS TEACHER, GRADE 8- 12

Pretoria Chinese School, a prestigious independent institution committed to academic excellence, invites applications for a High School Mathematics Teacher position.
We are seeking a passionate, dynamic and academically strong Mathematics educator who can inspire students to develop a deep understanding of Mathematics and prepare them for success in the senior grades and Further Studies Mathematics.
Experience teaching Mathematics within an IEB environment, particularly at Grades 10–12 level, will be highly advantageous.
Minimum Requirements
The ideal candidate should:
- Have proven experience teaching High School Mathematics, preferably within an IEB school.
- Hold an appropriate academic and professional qualification to teach Mathematics at High School level.
- Be SACE registered.
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach Mathematics across the High School phase.
- Have the ability and confidence to support and prepare students for Further Studies Mathematics.
- Demonstrate an understanding of curriculum development, assessment and academic progression in Mathematics.
- Be passionate about education, academically driven, creative, self-motivated and energetic.
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a professional team.
- Possess excellent organisational skills, with the ability to assess, monitor and track student progress while providing constructive and meaningful feedback.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and appropriately differentiated Mathematics lessons.
- Prepare students for assessments and examinations in accordance with the IEB curriculum and assessment requirements.
- Develop strong mathematical reasoning, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Provide appropriate academic support and extension to students working at different levels.
- Prepare and support students who intend to pursue Further Studies Mathematics, including developing the foundational knowledge and higher-order mathematical thinking required for success.
- Foster a stimulating, supportive and academically ambitious learning environment that reflects the ethos and values of Pretoria Chinese School.
- Integrate appropriate technology and innovative teaching methodologies into Mathematics instruction.
- Monitor student performance and implement interventions where necessary.
- Contribute to the development of the Mathematics Department and broader academic programme.
- Participate in the school’s co-curricular programme and support students beyond the classroom.
- Be available during afternoons, evenings and other required times to assist with co-curricular activities, workshops, courses and school functions.
