JOB DESCRIPTION
Lanner House Independent School, a primary school situated in Worcester in the Western Cape, is seeking to appoint a passionate Intersen Phase Teacher (Grades 4 to 7) at our Mountain View Campus. The role involves teaching and coordinating a range of subjects as part of the CAPS curriculum. The teacher will be responsible for the active teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development and growth of positive attitudes among learners through integrated, differentiated and focused teaching approaches. The teacher will also manage and promote the Green Shoots maths programme throughout the school and coach sport.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Performing teaching duties and delivering the curriculum
- Teaching Mathematics at a highly competent level
- Doing the necessary research and investigation to extend learning further than the curriculum
- Measuring academic learning and differentiate methods of teaching to best suite the needs of the learners
- Doing annual and term planning as well as teaching preparation well in advance
- Implementing, reviewing and adjusting term planning and teaching
- Manage the classroom, as well as classroom design and set-up for optimal performance
- Set-up and manage assessments, both formative and summative, including the assessment roster, revision packs and moderation
- Mark workbooks, assignments and assessments timeously and give feedback to learners
- Manage the Green Shoots maths programme throughout the school
- Plan and manage extra-mural activities
- Plan and manage social activities
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- BEd and/or PGCE in Intermediate Phase
- SACE-registered
- Clear criminal record
- Two years of more experience as an Intermediate Phase teacher
- Knowledge of the CAPS curriculum
- Be passionate about Mathematics
- Have a general affinity towards the coaching of sport
- Have sport coaching ability
- Fluent and competent in both speaking and teaching English
- Proven facilitation, problem solving and report writing skills
- Willing and able to work extended hours
- Willing and able to manage learner aftercare sessions
- Willing and able to work occasionally on Saturdays
- Proficient in working with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Be willing to work and partake as a team player
