MATHEMATICS TEACHER (A LEVELS & IEB)

St Andrew’s College invites applications from passionate and experienced Mathematics educators who are aligned with the ethos and values of our schools and who are committed to delivering an innovative, rigorous and engaging academic experience.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding Mathematics educator with the ability to teach both Cambridge International AS/A Level and IEB Mathematics. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the academic life of one of South Africa’s leading independent boys’ schools and to the unique teaching partnership between St Andrew’s College and The Diocesan School for Girls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Deliver high-quality, rigorous and engaging Mathematics education, with particular emphasis on AS/A Level Mathematics.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Cambridge International AS/A Level Mathematics curriculum, assessment requirements and the skills required to prepare pupils for success at this level.
  • Teach IEB Mathematics confidently across the relevant senior grades and Senior Phase Mathematics in Grades 8 and/or 9, as required.
  • Be a committed, dynamic, innovative and experienced educator, preferably with a minimum of five years’ teaching experience.
  • Hold an appropriate university degree and professional teaching qualification.
  • Be registered with SACE.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational, communication and classroom management skills.
  • Use innovative and effective teaching approaches to challenge, inspire and develop pupils with differing abilities and levels of mathematical aptitude.
  • Contribute to the academic development of the Mathematics Department and participate in curriculum planning, assessment and co-curricular academic activities.
  • Embrace and contribute to the unique teaching partnership between St Andrew’s College and The Diocesan School for Girls.
  • Engage fully in school life, including extra-curricular and pastoral activities.
  • Support and uphold the Christian ethos of the school.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life and community of the College.
  • An interest in, or willingness to become involved in, housemastering and sport coaching will be a distinct advantage.
