ISIZULU FIRST ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE TEACHER
Grade 8 – 12
To commence: 1 January 2027 (Negotiable)
St Peter’s College is an independent Anglican Diocesan school for boys and girls from Grade 8 to Grade 12. The school was founded in 1998 to meet the demand for a co-educational high school in northern Sandton. St Peter’s College offers an integrated and relevant South African high school education.
The aim of the College is to ensure that individual potential is achieved through exposure to a wide range of excellent academic, spiritual, sporting, creative, cultural, and community activities. Our goal is to create and maintain an environment where trust and respect for the individual prevails, where diversity and inclusion are valued, and where individual responsibility is fostered within the context of teamwork.
The College is currently seeking to appoint an IsiZulu Teacher to start on 1 January 2027 (Negotiable)
Duties (not an exhaustive list):
- Plan, prepare, and deliver isiZulu lessons, First Additional Language, in line with the IEB curriculum
- Developing and implementing lesson plans, assessments, and learning activities that cater to diverse learner needs and abilities.
- Assessing learner performance through formal and informal assessments, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate academic records.
- Communicating effectively with learners, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress, learner support, and curriculum matters.
- Promoting knowledge and appreciation of the isiZulu language and culture, fostering learner engagement
- Supporting learners’ academic progress through intervention, enrichment, and additional academic support where required.
- Integrating technology and innovative teaching methodologies to enhance learner engagement and achievement.
- Participating in departmental meetings, parent consultations, school events, professional development activities, and other school-related responsibilities.
- Contributing to curriculum development, moderation processes, examination preparation, and continuous improvement initiatives within the IsiZulu Department.
- Upholding school policies, professional standards, and safeguarding responsibilities while contributing positively to the school’s culture, values, and academic objectives.
Qualifications and Experience required:
• Post Matric Tertiary qualification majoring in IsiZulu
• Minimum five years’ experience teaching IsiZulu (Grades 8-12)
• Experience in teaching the Independent Examination Board (IEB) IsiZulu curriculum is advantageous
• Experience in marking the IEB IsiZulu Examinations is also advantageous
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Registered with SACE
