Job overview

We are looking for a reliable and skilled Handyman to join our school’s maintenance team. The successful candidate will ensure that our school buildings, classrooms, and grounds remain safe, clean and in proper working order for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• General building maintenance and repairs;
• Plumbing maintenance and minor repairs;
• Painting, plastering, tiling, and basic bricklaying;
• Carpentry and general handyman duties;
• Routine inspections of facilities and reporting maintenance requirements;
• Assisting with preventative maintenance programmes;
• Setting up and supporting school events and functions as required;
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations;
• Responding promptly to maintenance requests across the school campus.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent;
• Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance technician, or similar role;
• Knowledge and practical experience in plumbing, painting, plastering, bricklaying, and general building maintenance;
• Basic understanding of electrical maintenance would be advantageous;
• Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual work;
• A valid South African driver’s licence will be advantageous;
• Reliable, responsible, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship;
• Clean criminal record/clear background check for working near children (police clearance certificate);
• Prior experience working in a school environment or similar setting is a strong advantage.
