Finance Assistant – Debtors

St Charles College is looking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Finance Assistant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented and organised individual who will provide financial and administrative support, with a focus on debtors, fees, bursaries and financial assistance. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely processing while maintaining effective financial controls.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily processing of receipts from the College bank statement.
  • Petty cash control and administration.
  • Capturing all internal recoveries such as catering, telephone, stationery and vehicle costs.
  • Management and administration of weekly pocket money via eWallet.
  • Debtors’ administration, including follow-up on all arrear accounts, liaising with parents regarding account queries, as well as assisting with all debtor-related financial processes, medical insurance claims and annual bursary reviews.
  • Debit Orders – scheduling and processing the weekly/monthly runs and following up on unpaid debit orders.
  • Management and administration of the KARRI App.

Personal qualities:

  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and solve arising problems.
  • Attention to detail, ability to work unsupervised and be a team player.
  • Professional, empathetic and confident when dealing with parents, whilst still enforcing the College’s financial policies.
  • Organised with the ability to manage time effectively under pressure.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Grade 12/Matric and a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in Pastel and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word).
  • Adaptable to change and the incorporation of technological improvements and efficiencies.
