EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY INTERN

Available from January 2027

Crossroads School, founded in 1966, is a remedial, English-medium, co-educational school for some 200 learners Grade 0-9, situated in Victory Park, and is a member of the Independent Schools Association of South Africa.

We are in search of a full-time Educational Psychology intern to join our team of school-based professionals, working under the site supervision of the Educational Psychologists. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing support to learners and families in a dynamic, collaborative school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality therapeutic services under site supervision of the Crossroads Educational Psychologists, working as an active member of the therapy team
  • Conduct psycho-educational assessments and provide professional reports
  • Provide intervention and therapeutic support for individual learners, small groups and class-based sessions, as well as through parent engagement and family support
  • Present and participate in workshops and trainings
  • Actively participate in team meetings and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct, including clinical record keeping and administration
  • Initiation and development of innovative therapy programs and services
  • Engage in responsibilities and duties associated with a school-based position

Requirements:

  • Currently completing Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology
  • Individualised intern program approved by Professional Board of Psychology before the end of 2026
  • Registration with HPCSA as an intern psychologist by end of 2026
  • An in-date police clearance certificate, sexual offenders register clearance, and child protection register check
  • An excellent verbal and written command of the English language
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to engage with duties associated with a school-based position
