(Sectionals – Fixed Term Contract)

St Peter’s College is an independent Anglican Diocesan school for boys and girls from Grade 8 to Grade 12. The school was founded in 1998 to meet the demand for a co-educational high school in northern
Sandton. St Peter’s College offers an integrated and relevant South African high school education.

An opportunity exists for an exceptional Woodwind Specialist (Sectionals) to join the school on 1 January 2025.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant degree or suitable teaching qualification
  • 3 years experience in teaching in an ensemble setting
  • Experience in teaching beginner to advanced level

Candidates should have the following attributes:

  • Ability to teach and assist all woodwind instruments (Flute, Clarinet, Alto & Tenor Saxophone) during sectionals
  • Teaching group lessons lasting an hour a week, usually incorporating elements of general musicianship, such as instrumental technique and interpretation;
  • Tuning of instruments before sectionals commence.
  • Knowledge of contemporary band and orchestral music
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate excellent musicianship and artistry as a teacher/performer
  • Ability to be assertive but flexible
  • Able to motivate students to learn, practice and achieve great results
  • Being an active member of a dynamic Music department to contribute to and strengthen the team.
  • Preparing students for internal and external school events such as concerts, assemblies, exams and eisteddfods.
  • Self-motivating, creative and innovative
  • Prepared to work according to the school’s ethos, specifications, and policies
  • Police clearance and SACE certificates
