CHRISTIAN FAITH BASED PRIMARY SCHOOL
Victory Christian School, an independent dual-medium (English and Afrikaans) Primary School based in Jeffrey’s Bay with approximately 300 students and 48 staff members, is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the role of School Principal.
The ideal candidate should be an experienced, dynamic, innovative Christian leader in education who shares the school’s core values and can promote and facilitate our vision of
academic excellence for all students, with an uncompromising heart for the King, His Kingdom, church and community.
The principal should be able to identify and develop leadership amongst members of
our school community, demonstrate instructional excellence, and be fully conversant with data-driven classroom methodologies as well as the continuous improvement thereof.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE
- Provide strategic leadership in implementing the school’s vision and mission,
- Oversee all school operations within a positive and safe educational environment.
- Promote and maintain a Christian, Kingdom culture where God is central and honoured.
- Enhance and maintain the culture of excellence, teamwork, and collaboration among school staff, students, families and the community.
- Motivate and monitor the growth and development of all educators through goal oriented measurables around self-improvement, classroom culture, curriculum development, lesson planning and execution, student achievement assessments and data analysis.
- Model behaviour that promotes and inspires excellence amongst all staff and students.
- Compile measurable data on academic growth and development, and communicate outcomes/results regularly to the school Governing Board and parents.
- Ensure consistent compliance with all local and national funding sources.
- Oversee and implement legislative statutory and regulatory requirements pertaining to independent schools in South Africa
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE
- To protect and promote the ethos and reputation of Victory Christian School by means of good leadership and sound biblical worldview standards.
- Liaising with all major stakeholders of the school, ensuring unity and alignment at all times (stakeholders being the Victory Church Eldership, Governing Body, staff and parents).
- To build and manage an effective high-performance team that assimilates our culture.
- To execute the mandate of the school and the strategy of the Governing Body, within the main focus areas of academics, sport, culture, facilities and human resources management.
- Implement clear processes for the implementation of the curriculum, lesson planning and execution, and data analysis.
- Provide oversight for scheduling, academic programming, and other administrative activities.
- Manage the school leadership team to develop, implement, and maintain procedures related to job descriptions, discipline, meetings, assemblies, classroom culture, health and safety, amongst others.
- Manage and adhere to the school’s annual operating budget for all academic and student life programs.

- A mature Christian with a history of serving in a Church in a leadership capacity.

- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build teams, inspire and connect people.
- Excellent (interpersonal) relational skills with an ability to maintain a strong connection with all key stakeholders.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English and/or Afrikaans.
- An entrepreneurial, adaptable and energetic mindset.
- A working knowledge and understanding of all legislative, statutory and regulatory requirements for schools in South Africa.
- Excellent planning and time management skills.
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to work in a diverse setting with a variety of constituents
- Good conflict management, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to plan strategically, and prioritise key objectives.
- General good health, both physically and mentally.
- Capacity to work hard, to cope with pressure and to manage stress well.
- Financial and budgetary planning and management skills, including but not limited to supplementary objectives such as sponsorships, fundraising, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS ROLE
- Recognised Bachelor’s degree and a relevant Post Graduate qualification
- Ability to communicate in English and Afrikaans
- SACE Registered.
- 5+ years of experience in a school management leadership role.
- Experienced educator in a Christian faith-based school.
- Familiarity and experience with the curriculum and online learning platforms.
- Demonstrated commitment to promote equity and development in a diverse community.
