The Position – Hilton College invites applications for the full-time permanent position of House manager. The successful applicant is expected to take up the position on the 1 September 2022 (negotiable). The House manager works closely with, and reports into, the Housemaster.
The responsibilities of the post entail:
Pastoral Care – The wellbeing of the boys in the house by providing a homely environment. Creating a positive, caring and open culture that encourages full participation in study and co-curricular programmes within the College and Boarding community.
House Facilities – To assist with the upkeep and general running of the house, supervise cleaning and maintenance, security, laundry.
Administration – To assist with writing reports, testimonials, correspondence, phone calls.
Events – Co-ordinate and manage House events.
Communication – parents, Sanatorium, teachers, Housemaster.
Organisational skills – managing with the Housemaster the weekend leave passes, gate passes, transport.
General – Work with the House staff, oversee Health and Safety in the House during work hours, manage and report possible incidents to Housemaster, manage and report property damage, hospital and doctor’s trips.
Transporting of boys if and when required.
Qualifications and Experience – the successful candidate will be in possession of a Grade 12 Senior Certificate and will be able to demonstrate understanding of adolescent behaviour and the ability to communicate and interact with adolescents, staff and parents. Knowledge of Microsoft packages.
Key Competencies – A team player with the ability to work independently as required. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic. Excellent interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a diverse student and staff population. A valid driver’s licence.
