Teacher Position
Available from 1 June 2025
We are looking for an energetic, friendly, and positive woman who has a passion for teaching young children (ages 2 to 6 years) for a position in the English classes of our Pre-Primary school. The ideal candidate should be between 25 and 45 years old and must love working with young children.
The applicant must have reliable transport to ensure punctual arrival at work.
Working Hours:
During school terms:
-  Mondays: 06:50 – 16:30
-  Tuesdays to Fridays: 06:50 – 14:15
 During school holidays (March/April, June/July, September/October):
-  Teachers work one day per holiday from 06:50 – 17:00, with a 45-minute lunch break.
 December holidays:
- Â The school closes for approximately four (4) weeks, depending on the official school calendar issued by the Department of Education.
The Ideal Candidate Should:
• Hold a B.Ed. degree and have at least 2-3 years of teaching experience.
• Have a SACE registration number
• Be bilingual, with excellent language skills being essential.
Be knowledgeable in early childhood development and familiar with:
- Â The latest National Curriculum Statement issued by the Department of Basic Education.
- Â The 2023 ISASA ECD curriculum.
- Â The NELDS (National Early Learning Development Standards) and key developmental milestones.
-  Knowledge of the “Ken Jou Kind” Perceptual Development Program and Dr. M. de Jager’s Reading Readiness Program will be a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Teaching lessons according to the day program and school curriculum to promote the preschool child’s cognitive, emotional, social and physical development.
- Managing classroom resources such as inventories, media, and educational toys, and ensuring that teaching practices align with the school’s vision and mission to support the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development of learners.
- Daily classroom and lesson planning, including learning station preparation and organization.
- Learner support preparation, meals, bathroom routine, assessments, reporting, and communication with parents (daily updates, parent-teacher meetings, and formal reports).
- Ensure cleanliness regarding the educational toys (sorted, washed and in the right containers for the media/storage).
- Regular communication with the principal and participation in school functions, puppet shows, and both internal and external training sessions as per the school’s standards for each age group.
- Inhouse visits and outings
- Â Help with school functions such as but not limited to concert, graduation, open day that takes place in the evenings and/or on Saturday
- Â Planning, organizing, and presenting lessons, ensuring that learners engage with educational media, toys, and books to support the lesson plan.
- Class concert preparation and presentation.
- Training, attending meetings and administrative tasks associated with a teacher position at the school
- Handling all class-related parent interviews and consultations.
Professional and Personal Conduct:
Life skills form an essential part of early childhood education. The teacher is expected to set a strong example for both parents and staff, fostering high-quality relationships and maintaining a professional standard in all aspects of teaching and communication.
