SUBJECT HEAD MATHEMATICAL LITERACY

St Alban’s College, one of South Africa’s leading independent boys’ high schools, seeks to employ a Subject Head for Mathematical Literacy for a full-time position. The position is an opportunity for an educator who is extremely experienced, passionate, talented, and creative and who will foster enthusiasm for mathematical literacy and maintain a high standard of achievement.

The ideal candidate will be a teacher who is well entrenched in the IEB environment and has a proven and successful track record in teaching Mathematics

Criteria:

  • An appropriate academic degree or qualification.
  • Must be SACE registered.
  • A passion for education and the desire to motivate and stimulate higher-order thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills and classroom management.
  • The use and integration of technology into the classroom is an essential criterion.
  • Competence in terms of computer literacy – especially Google docs, sheets, and classroom.
  • An ability to contribute to the extra-curricular program within the school would be an advantage.
  • Have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have a willingness to become involved in the life of the school.
  • Be a committed, dynamic educationalist, with an innovative use of technology to enhance learning and have a practical approach to the subject.
  • Be knowledgeable of current educational trends in mathematical literacy education and understanding.
  • Minimum 7 Years teaching experience required.

Date of Commencement: 1 January 2025
