The successful candidate will be an experienced, qualified Sports Coach who holds an appropriate qualification for the position. Previous experience in a school environment is an advantage but is not essential. The candidate will work with children of all ages.

A brief outline of the expected responsibilities of this post follows:

  • the practical delivery of a variety of sport activities to students
  • plan, prepare and deliver sports and activities to small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as required
  • participate fully in the Physical Education and Co-curricular programmes
  • report to the Head of Physical Education and Director of Sport
  • assess, record and report on student development
  • encourage the development of sporting skills, knowledge and techniques and provide safe instruction in the use of specialist sporting equipment
  • promote and offer constructive feedback to all students in order to engage, motivate and encourage involvement and participation
  • liaise with the school’s Director of Sport to ensure activities reflect Co-curricular requirements
  • liaise and work with the school’s Director of Sport to plan and facilitate events.
  • coordinate off site sporting activities and supervising students
  • foster a culture of healthy living throughout the school by actively promoting sport and activities opportunities to students
  • undertake administrative tasks including activity registers, consent forms, and home-school liaison.
  • address any behavior management and conduct issues which may arise in the area of sport in accordance with the School’s Code of Conduct.
  • assist with break duties during the school day.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate
  • Proven experience in the planning, coordination, and practical delivery of coaching in a range of sports.
  • Experience in teaching Physical Education lessons in all phases of a school.
  • Successful experience of engaging students in sport.
  • Experience of working in partnership with a range of internal and external stakeholders
