SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Founded in 1877, Durban Girls’ College is a leading independent girls’ school with a proud history and a strong Christian ethos that offers an innovative, forward-looking and relevant education for girls from Grade 00 to Grade 12. We are seeking an experienced content creator to manage our social media presence and provide all-around support to the Marketing Department. This individual should be highly computer literate and an expert at the internet and social media with a demonstrated track record of effective content creation and strategy. They will embody our values – integrity, courage, agility, respect, and empathy, while showcasing DGC’s vibrant activities in academics, culture, and sport. This role requires professionalism that reflects the standards of a leading independent school along with a commitment to amplifying DGC’s message and values in the digital space.

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Social Media Management.
  • Content Development including photography, copywriting, graphic design & proof reading.
  • Updating the Website.
  • Management of Photographic Libraries.
  • Support to the Marketing Department.
  • Design of Marketing Collateral.

The incumbent will need to be proficient in the following:

  • Highly computer literate and an expert in internet and social media with a demonstrated track record
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google: Drive, Sheets, Docs, and Slides.
  • Canva or Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
  • WordPress for updating the website.

Key attributes include:

  • A well-presented, self-motivated and energetic individual able to multi-task in a highly pressurised environment.
  • A highly effective communicator with a good command of the English Language.
  • Visually literate and creative with a good ‘eye’ for design and photography.
  • Highly organised and deadline-driven with good attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with local, national and international education markets and trends would be an advantage.
  • Integrity and empathy for young people.
  • Understand the Christian ethos of the school.
  • A marketing or creative degree would be an added advantage.
  • Two years’ experience in a similar position.
