Founded in 1877, Durban Girls’ College is a leading, independent, Christian girls’ school with a proud history that offers an innovative and relevant education for girls from Grade 00 to Grade 12.

The suitably qualified candidate should be dynamic, caring, innovative, and have a progressive approach to teaching grades 4 – 7. A willingness to participate in the school’s co-curricular programme is essential.


  • A minimum of a recognised Degree and/ or 4 year professional teaching qualification
  • Assume responsibility for all subjects
  • Knowledge of Thinking school strategies and practice would be an advantage
  • Assist in co-curricular programmes of the school
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work as part of a team
  • Have sound administrative and organisational skills and knowledge of the IEB curriculum
  • Be able to fulfil the role of a subject and class teacher
  • Must be proficient in the English language, both written and spoken
  • Be able to teach Afrikaans
  • Must have sound computer literacy with skills in Google Classroom and be able to integrate IT into the teaching programme using iPads
  • Must commit to transformation, and our objective to create a safe and inclusive environment
  • Be SACE registered
  • Must be in possession of a current Criminal Clearance, Child Protection Register Clearance and Sexual Offenders Register Clearance certificate
