SENIOR ENGLISH EDUCATOR – 2026
FULL TIME, PERMANENT POSITION
Thomas More College seeks to employ a dynamic, inspired, and high functioning Senior English Educator within our High School:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- A strong understanding of educational standards, the ability to align curriculum with the IEB standards and the school’s assessment policies and procedures.
- Keeping up to date with the latest developments and best practices in the teaching and learning environment.
- Perform duties expected of a senior educator.
- Ability to collaborate openly and keenly with colleagues.
- Proactive and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Working with an online Learner Management System (such as Google Classroom and EdAdmin).
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other pertinent information.
- Thoroughly well-versed in the challenges faced by young people in an English classroom and has multiple strategies to motivate them.
- Provide individualised support and instruction to students who may require extra assistance or enrichment to meet their academic needs
- Insistent about growing the popularity of this subject amongst young people.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Adherence to the Christian Ethos of the School.
- Relevant qualification/s in teaching English.
- SACE Registered.
- At least 5 years’ experience; ideally in an IEB school.
- Criminal and Sexual Offender’s Clearance Certificate
- An unequivocal collaborator.
- Known to embrace alternate, creative and cutting-edge pedagogies for effective teaching of English.
- A willingness to participate fully in the school’s extracurricular programme.
- Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills.
- Flexible and able to solve problems creatively.
- Adhere to the school code of conduct.
